Contract: This is a contractor role, a 12 months contract will be offered to the candidate with option to extend.
The role:
The role primarily covers the coordination and organization of public policy initiatives in the MENA for Cloud technologies, with a focus on the UAE.
As a Cloud Government Affairs & Public Policy Analyst, you will support the company's engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties. You will be responsible to support in identifying key policy issues, listening carefully to others’ views and opinions, and distilling and sharing the company’s perspective on those issues with external stakeholders. You will work with cross-functional teams (e.g. Sales, Legal, Marketing, PR/Communications and other functions) as well as with a closely-coordinated global Public Policy team to advance public policy events and occasionally research initiatives that benefit our users.
Responsibilities:
- Help to develop, coordinate and manage public policy initiatives and events across all policy areas, with a focus on Cloud relevant policies (data privacy, data classification, cybersecurity, Cloud First Policy, AI/ML)
- Engage with cross functional teams internally on joint events and priorities
- Advise internal teams on policy issues affecting the company’s operations (including shaping responses for Cloud-relevant public policy consultations)
- Help shape the government affairs and regulatory strategy as needed
- Develop and implement policy engagement plans (e.g., policy awareness workshops, thought-leadership, policy roadshows, etc.)
- Write and research briefings for key internal and external engagements
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience managing government relations and public policy engagements.
- Experience in public policy, public advocacy or the private sector’s government affairs field, with knowledge of policy making and government relations.
- Ability to speak and write in English and Arabic fluently.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience working with or in government, politics, a regulatory agency, a policy ‘think tank’ or a similar organization.
- Knowledge of the tech sector and key issues (Cloud, AI, Cybersecurity, Privacy, etc.)
- Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment and manage projects and relationships across
- multiple countries.
- Ability to manage complex technical and policy issues.
- Ability to write and translate complex issues into a language suitable for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work as part of a team and with people from a broad range of backgrounds and excellent acumen, communication, and presentation skills.
- Excellent personal, political, analytical and organizational skills.
