The Role
The Head of Cybersecurity at NymCard has a diverse set of responsibilities that evolve based on the company's specific needs and business directions. These generally include:
- Cybersecurity Strategy: Update the 2024 strategy to cover a three-year planning horizon and oversee a strategic, comprehensive enterprise cybersecurity and IT risk management program to ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of the company's information.
- Risk Management: Execute the company's technology and security framework, proactively identifying and managing risks to NymCard's information and systems. This includes conducting risk assessments, third-party due diligence, and audits to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
- Customer Engagement: Present security practices within the company and develop security solutions for customer engagements.
- Incident Response: Oversee the incident response plan and lead responses to security incidents, including data breaches and cyber attacks.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and standards related to cybersecurity across NymCard's geographic scope (UAE, KSA, Egypt, Pakistan, Qatar, Oman, and others), including PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI PIN, etc.
- Training and Awareness: Oversee cybersecurity training programs to enhance employee awareness of cybersecurity issues, PCI compliance, and their roles in maintaining security, including advanced phishing coverage.

- Security Architecture: Oversee the design of the company's network and computing systems to ensure best security practices, in close collaboration with the Head of Infrastructure.
- Leadership: Lead a team of cybersecurity professionals, providing guidance and direction to achieve strategic objectives.
- Reporting: Regularly report to senior management or the SLT on the company's cybersecurity posture.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about the latest cybersecurity threats, technologies, and best practices to continually enhance the company's cybersecurity strategy.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead a growing team of security professionals across multiple countries, overseeing their work, deliverables, professional growth, and engagement levels.
- Drive and enhance security processes, ensuring team sizing aligns with business goals and targets.
- Oversee the design and implementation of system architecture changes alongside architects and senior engineers.
- Manage and optimise infrastructure assets to meet internal financial targets while ensuring security posture.
- Update and create cybersecurity policies, procedures, standards, and practices, ensuring adherence to regulations and industry standards like PCI, ISO27001, SOC2.
- Track, analyse, and monitor cybersecurity performance metrics.
- Stay updated on new trends and best practices in cybersecurity.
- Take the initiative in thought leadership, innovation, and creativity within the cybersecurity domain.
- Stay aligned with NymCard business targets and lead the team to successful delivery.
- Maintain extreme transparency about challenges, failures, and successes.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with development, infrastructure, product management, sales, and client delivery functions.
Skills & Qualifications
- Over 10 years of experience as a Head of Cybersecurity.
- Customer-facing capabilities.
- Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Advanced knowledge of security product constructs, particularly in payments and finance.
