Job Description:
GDIT is looking for an Air Defense Simulations operator to join our team in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The candidate should have experience in Air Defense operations with preferred experience using simulations systems such as Pelorus, FFEADS, and EADSim. CompTIA Sec+ or higher level DoD 8570/8140 certification is required on day 1, with Windows system or Cisco network certification a plus.
This position provides air defense simulations and training support to the USAFCENT Air Warfare Center (AWC) and the Integrated Air & Missile Defense Center (IAMDC) in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Emphasis is on delivering systems maintenance, systems operation, systems instruction, network management, and information assurance management to provide expertise to the combat training, testing and simulation support to operational units.
The candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining various air defense simulations systems, which may include the Reconfigurable Table-Top Trainer (RT3), Extended Air Defense Simulation (EADSIM), PELORUS, Battlefield Operating Support System (BOSS), Reconfigurable Tactical Operations Simulator (RTOS), Joint Simulation Protocol Analyzer (JSPA), and Ballistic Missile Defense International Simulation (BMD I-Sim). Additionally, the candidate will play a crucial role in creating and managing documents such as Exercise Control Plans, Deliverable Reports, After-Action Review (AAR) documents, Planning Conference notes, Meeting Minutes, and Exception to Policies.
HOW A SIMULATIONS OPERATOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

Provide simulations system operator and system administration support to facilitate at least four major exercises or air defense courses per year. This includes TDY travel to Saudi Arabia at least four times per year for a duration of up to 5 weeks each.

Integrate multiple simulation tools (Pelorus, FFEADS, EADSim) for exercise and training events in coordination with other vendor support teams.

Operate and integrate Link-16 MIDS terminal to support exercise and training events.

Responsible for the configuration, maintenance, and operation of the AWC's networks, servers, and supporting hardware/software.

Ensure that the AWC's networks remain in compliance with DoD Risk Management Framework standards and the network is accredited. Produce and maintain Plans of Actions & Milestones (POA&M) for items that do not meet compliance standards.

Install software and updates for both U.S. and UAE Windows and/or Linux-based servers and workstations.

Provide system overview briefings and products for exercise participants and relevant meetings; compile modeling data for group presentations and load user provided threat data.

Input sensor and weapon system parameters and validating system and database integrity prior to exercises; providing technical system support throughout the exercise; archiving system data and files after exercise vents and prepare systems for next use.

Serve as the principal lessons learned advisor for data links and tactical communications.

Integrate and manage a federation of live, virtual, and constructive simulations/simulators into an unclassified U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) managed, LINK-16 network to enable interoperability.

Integrate and manage C4I systems to include (but not limited to) Command and Control Personal Computer, Engagement Manager Air Defense Management System, TacPlanner Integrated Air Defense Planning System, and Global Command and Control System (GCCS).
The candidate may serve as the Site / Team Lead whose duties include:

Submit the Weekly Activity Report, the primary contract deliverable at the site level.

Complete, submit, and track Travel Authorization Requests (TAR).

Complete, submit, and track Requests to Initiate Purchase (RIP).
-
Maintain and track inventory of Govt Furnished Property (GFP).
-
Develop and maintain schedule of site personnel and exercise support timelines.
This is an unaccompanied position with a one-year minimum commitment at a remote, austere location near Abu Dhabi, UAE. The candidate will be required to apply for and receive a requisite work visa before going in-country. The candidate may be required to stage at a site in another country while applying for the visa. Upon receipt of visa, the candidate will transfer to the UAE. A GDIT leased vehicle is provided for use while in the UAE. The import of a Privately Owned Vehicle (POV) is not allowed. While in the UAE, GDIT Leased Housing may be provided in lieu of a Housing Allowance.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Security Clearance Required: Secret clearance based on a T3/SSBI investigation.

Simulation Systems: Must have experience in one of the following Pelorus, FFEADS or EADSim

Education: High school diploma or equivalency. BA/BS in computer science, information systems, engineering, or related field with concentration in computer-based technology or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training preferred.

Certification: CCNA, CCNP, Windows Server, Microsoft Azure, VMware, Linux Professional (LPIC), CASP, CISM, CISSP, Certified Ethical Hacker, PMP, or CAPM.

IAT Level II certification at time of hire and maintain IAT II compliancy as a condition of employment. Candidates must have a valid DoD Instruction 8570 certification (CompTIA Security+CE a minimum). One industry level certification in system or network administration is required, such as Network+, Linux+, MCP Desktop Support, MCTS, and/or MCSA.

Skills: Basic understanding of systems administration as well as network administration and data flow a must. The candidate must be able to conduct basic network routing and switching configuration and maintenance actions. Knowledge of Link-16 and Link-16 troubleshooting both in a simulation environment and an operational Link-16 environment a must. Knowledge of and experience with simulation tools mentioned above and their integration a must. Familiarity with the format, content, purpose, generation, ingestion, and processing of Air Tasking Orders (ATO) and Airspace Control Orders (ACO) into automated C2 and simulations systems key. Excellent customer service skills and communication skills are necessary.

The likely salary range for this position is $88,275 - $115,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
Total compensation for international positions varies by tax, social security, and immigration statuses, as well as location. Generally, an international assignment may include allowances, premium uplifts, and/or relocation or transportation benefits, above base salary range noted.
