Role Description
Development, implementation, and evaluation of national and emirate-level climate policies, legislation, programs, and initiatives. The role will involve technical analysis, project management, stakeholder coordination. Ensuring that climate actions are aligned with national priorities and international commitments.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of relevant experience in climate policy, emissions inventory accounting, and environmental management.
- Thorough understanding of international climate frameworks, including the Paris Agreement, and their application at the national and emirate-level.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and operationalizing climate mitigation and adaptation strategies and projects
- Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders across sectors, and deliver high-quality outputs on time
- Advanced written and verbal communications skills
- In-depth experience in compiling GHG emissions inventories in line with international guidelines
- Leadership and team management skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Additional preferred Experience
- Proven understanding of cooperative approaches under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, including ITMO criteria, carbon credit registries, and market-based mitigation instruments.
- Familiarity with Emissions Trading Schemes, carbon taxes, and their integration into national climate strategies.
- Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessments
- Knowledge of using models or analytical tools to assess policy impacts on emissions, energy demand
- Demonstrated experience in developing and operationalizing climate mitigation and adaptation strategies and projects
