Primary objective
Carry out Telecom design engineering activities, including co-ordination with the instrumentation and telecom design groups, to engineer tie-ins on existing off shore and on shore oil and gas processing facilities.
Specific Accountabilities
- Perform Telecom engineering design duties associated Green field and brown field off shore and on shore oil and gas processing facilities and downstream facilities such as refinery, petrochemicals, etc.
- Duties will include data gathering and site survey of existing telecom systems.
- Preparation of Front end engineering deliverables including design basis, specifications datasheets, sizing calculations, studies and reports.
- Preparation of FEED and detail design deliverables such as Block Diagrams, Location Layouts, Cable Routing Layouts, Interconnection drawings etc. in collaboration with designers.
- Carry out bid evaluation/ vendor document review and approval.
- Co-ordination and network design / interface with required Process Control & Safety systems
- Quality Assurance – Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system relevant to the Oil & Gas Business Unit
- Safety – Responsible for personal safety safe working practices for the Oil & Gas Business Unit. Understand and follow OH&S procedures.
- Exposure to man-hour estimate and preparation of proposals.

Position Specific Experience:
- Execution of Telecommunications projects; both standalone and integrated.
- Sound knowledge of International codes and standards related to telecommunication field.
- Design experience in various long haul transmission systems encompassing SDH/PDH nodes, MPLS TP node, Gigabit Ethernet switches etc.
- Design of systems such as Telephone System, LAN System, TETRA System, Microwave Radio, VHF Marine Radio, VSAT, PAGA, ACS, CCTV, Intruder detection system, Structured Cabling System, FO Cabling, Telephone cabling etc. to suit client requirements
- Interface requirements with various Control systems, Electrical Systems etc.
- Cyber security.
- Preparation of Telecom system specifications and equipment datasheets.
- Preparation of Technical Bid evaluation and recommendations.
- FO link budget calculations, Bandwidth requirements, Radio coverage study, Speaker coverage calculations etc. using standard software’s available in telecom industry.
- QA - Responsible for working with the provisions and guidelines of company QA procedures
Essential Skills/Experience
- Engineering degree or equivalent; previous experience in a similar role is highly regarded.
- Anticipate at least relevant experience with Telecom design and engineering in the Oil & Gas / Refinery / Petrochemical environment, including a minimum years of offshore experience.
- Knowledge of hazardous area requirements.
- A positive attitude towards Health, Safety and the Environment.
- The ability to work within a project team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work unsupervised.
