About the role
The Network and Security Engineer (N&SE) will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the network and security infrastructure of AEP’s. The primary focus will be on safeguarding the integrity, confidentiality, scalability and availability of AEP’s network resources and data. The N&SE will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that security measures are integrated seamlessly into AEP’s network architecture and operations. Responsibilities
- Designing and planning the AEP's network infrastructure, including LANs, WANs, WLANs, VPNs, and Internet connectivity, to meet business requirements, performance objectives and security requirements.
- Deploying and configuring network equipment such as routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, load balancers and wireless access points according to design specifications, security requirements and industry best practices.
- Diagnosing and resolving network issues, outages, and performance problems in a timely manner, utilizing troubleshooting techniques and collaboration with internal teams and vendors.
- Implementing and maintaining security controls, policies, and procedures to protect the organization's network infrastructure from unauthorized access, data breaches, and cyber threats.
- Creating and maintaining accurate documentation of network configurations, diagrams, and procedures. Following change management processes for network and security changes and updates.
- Planning and executing network, upgrades, expansions, and migrations to accommodate business growth, technological advancements, and changing requirements.
- Performing capacity planning to anticipate future network growth, scalability and security requirements. Implementing solutions to accommodate increased network traffic and resource demands.
- Contributing to disaster recovery and business continuity planning by designing resilient network architectures, implementing failover mechanisms, and participating in recovery exercises.
- Developing, implementing, and enforcing network security policies and procedures to protect against unauthorized access, data breaches, and cyber threats.
- Conducting regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests to identify and remediate security weaknesses in the network infrastructure.
- Developing and maintaining incident response plans and procedures to effectively respond to and mitigate security incidents, including conducting forensic investigations and root cause analysis.
- Implementing and managing network security monitoring tools and centralized logging systems to detect and analyze security events and anomalies.
- Integrating security controls and best practices into cloud infrastructure and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) to ensure the security of data and applications hosted in cloud environments.
- Interacting with network equipment vendors, service providers, and contractors to procure hardware/software, escalate support issues, and coordinate service delivery.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or master's degree in relevant field such as computer engineering, computer science, information technology, information systems, or a related discipline. Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CISSP, or equivalent are preferred.
- 2-5 years of work experience in network and security administration.
- Previous experience in payment services is a plus.
- Experience working in the UAE region is a plus.
Technical and Behavioral Skills
- Proven experience in network engineering, design, implementation, and troubleshooting in enterprise environments
- Proficiency in networking protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, VLANs, STP, MPLS, and DNS.
- Familiarity with network security principles, best practices, and technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, VPNs, and security policies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in the field of networking and information security.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
- Strong project management and program management skills.
- Should be adaptable, flexible and collaborative with good time-management skills.
- Professional fluency in written and spoken English; Arabic is a plus
