We are looking for a Physical Security Engineer – UAE Region is responsible for the engineering, performance, and reliability of physical security systems across a regional portfolio of up to 10 data centres. (SCALABLE) The role acts as the technical authority for security systems, ensuring consistent design, deployment, integration, and operation in line with corporate standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
This position is highly technical and operational, focusing on system architecture, lifecycle management, troubleshooting, optimization, and maintenance while working closely with Operations, IT, SOC, and external vendors across the UAE.
Key Accountabilities:
- Engineer, deploy, maintain, and optimize physical security systems across the UAE data center region, including Access Control Systems (ACS), CCTV / VMS, Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems (PIDS), Door locks and hardware mechanisms deep knowledge, Intercoms and auxiliary security technologies.
- Act as the regional escalation point for complex system faults, performance degradation, or critical incidents.
- Ensure high system availability, resilience, and alignment with operational SLAs (99,9%).
- Manage the full lifecycle of security systems, including - Design validation, Installation and commissioning, Configuration and tuning, Upgrades and refresh cycles, Decommissioning.
- Standardize system architectures, configurations, and documentation across all regional sites to ensure consistency and maintainability.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation (drawings, network diagrams, configurations, SOPs).
- Ensure physical security systems are securely integrated with o IT networks o SOC platforms o Monitoring and incident management systems.
- Work closely with IT and cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance with network, segmentation, and security requirements.
- Support centralized monitoring and regional SOC operations.
- Produce regular reports and dashboards on: System performance and availability, Incidents and root-cause analysis, Improvement initiatives and technical risks, Maintain accurate records of configurations, changes, incidents, and corrective actions.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and customers on technical security matters.
- Provide technical training and guidance to: Security operations teams, SOC personnel, Site operations stakeholders.
- Support vendor-led training and ensure effective knowledge transfer.
- Develop and maintain technical SOPs and user guides.
- Support Plan and oversee security system installation and upgrade projects, ensuring
- timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to align project objectives with
- organizational goals.
- Monitor project progress, address potential issues, and ensure adherence to budgets and timelines.
- Prepare detailed project plans, including scope, milestones, and resource allocation.
- Conduct post-implementation reviews to assess project success and identify areas for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with global standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST) and local regulations (e.g., SIRA, ADMCC) through regular audits and assessments.
- Standardize system configurations and processes across all sites to ensure consistency and reliability.
- Ensure compliance with Customer contracts and agreements.
- Collaborate with IT / Operations teams to integrate physical security systems with IT infrastructure and monitoring tools for comprehensive security management.
- Coordinate with Operations / Infrastructure planning / Technical Program Management teams to design and implement physical security enhancements, including access controls, surveillance systems, and perimeter security measures.
- Prepare detailed reports on system performance, incidents, and improvements for management review.
- Maintain accurate records of system configurations, incidents, and corrective actions.
- Maintain regular communication with Clients regarding security issues, threats, and developments.
- Comply with all relevant safety, quality, and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls to ensure a healthy and safe work environment.
- Create synergies between departments to report QHSE related issues.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Security Management, Criminal Justice, IT or Engineering) or equivalent work experience.
Minimum Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience managing and maintaining physical security systems, preferably in data centers or critical infrastructure.
- Proficiency with security technologies such as access control, CCTV, and intrusion detection systems.
- High knowledge with IT networks, servers, and cloud-based security solutions.
Job-Specific Skills (Generic / Technical):
- Proven experience as Physical Security Specialist.
- In depth knowledge of relevant legislation and procedures, specially SIRA and ADMCC.
- Experience in writing reports and documents for physical security.
- Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics.
- Proficient in MS Office; working knowledge of security related information systems is a plus.
- Outstanding organizational skills with attention to detail
- Proven expertise in configuring and troubleshooting advanced security systems.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, SIRA).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct technical risk assessments.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Competencies:
