A well-established financial institution in Sharjah is seeking an experienced Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead a bank-wide digital transformation programme, modernising its technology landscape while operating within a regulated, traditional banking environment.
This role requires a senior technology leader with proven UAE banking experience and a strong background spanning both traditional banking systems and digital banking platforms.
The Role
The CTO will have full accountability for the bank’s technology strategy and execution, balancing the transformation of legacy core systems with the delivery of modern, secure, and scalable digital banking capabilities.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in enabling innovation while maintaining regulatory compliance, operational resilience, and cybersecurity excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the digital transformation of a regulated bank, encompassing core banking, digital channels, data, and enterprise systems
- Define and execute the technology strategy and multi-year roadmap aligned with business growth and regulatory requirements
- Oversee traditional banking platforms (core banking, payments, treasury, risk, compliance systems) alongside digital banking solutions (mobile, online, APIs, cloud-based services)
- Drive modernisation of legacy systems while ensuring service continuity and regulatory compliance
- Strengthen cybersecurity, data protection, and IT risk management in line with the UAE Central Bank expectations
- Partner with the CEO, Executive Committee, and business leaders to deliver technology-enabled transformation
- Lead and develop internal technology teams and manage strategic vendors and systems integrators
- Establish robust technology governance, architecture standards, and delivery discipline
- Own technology budgets, capital investment planning, and vendor contracts
Candidate Profile
- Mandatory UAE experience within a bank or regulated financial institution
- Senior leadership experience as a CTO, CIO, or equivalent in banking or financial services
- Proven track record delivering large-scale digital transformation programmes
- Hands-on experience with traditional banking systems (core banking, payments, regulatory reporting)
- Strong exposure to digital banking platforms, cloud technologies, APIs, and customer-facing digital channels
- Deep understanding of UAE Central Bank regulations, cybersecurity frameworks, and IT risk management
- Ability to operate credibly at Board and Executive Committee level
- Strong commercial and strategic mindset, with the ability to translate technology into business outcomes
